I loved everything about this story. You write so well, and I cannot believe that no one else has read this story yet! I have so many ideas for stories of my own right now (in fact, I'm in the middle of this story I've made attempts at for months, but it's been sucking; however, I'm still trying my hardest to write it and make it a great story anyway), but I was actually thinking of trying something like this for another war in history...not the way you did it, of course, but in a different way (including fictional characters of my own). Hope you write more--unless this was it for this story!
