Oh gee...Yup, that's why my parents were clamoring to get into the United States when Communists struck their country. sarcasm "This has been revealed by the fact that in nearly three years of war" If you had paid attention in school, you WOULD no we're not really in WAR. Congress has not officially declared war, yet. So, we're just there, not in war. "More recently, Bush took an obscenely long amount of time to react to the horrors and destruction of Hurricane Katrina, taking ineffective evacuation and rescue measures that were, in many cases, too little too late" Once again, it's not the government's fault. The government requires the invitation of the MAYOR and GOVERNOR to take immediate action in a state. "Thousands of evacuees are crammed into buildings such as convention centers and sports arenas rather than provided with temporary housing" Well, it's not like they're going to be able to give each person a big two-story house, you know. Little time means desparate actions. "losing their inalienable rights and freedoms to a government that could care less" It's not their inalienable right to have a job. Nor does it concern with their freedom. Okay, I'm done pointing out stuff. It's not like it's really going to change your mind. There is one thing I did like, however. The schoolyard bully metaphor. That was simply brilliant. As for me, I'm entitled to have my own opinion about this. So, good work, even if I disagreed with it.

Flowers-in-the-Dustbin 2005-11-20 ch 1,	abuseYou're right, there -should- be a politics category for prose. I've wondered about that one too. This is really well done. I especially like the way you fleshed out the Schoolyard Bully metaphor (spitballs!). The one suggestion I would make is to write more about outsourcing and the environment, maybe bring up the Kyoto Protocol or sweatshops or something, instead of mentioning them almost like afterthoughts in the conclusion. Final paragraphs are generally better for tying up ideas than introducing new ones. Other than that, it's great. :)
