abuseAlthough this is very well-written, I must point out some...errors, if you will.

"Throughout the world, the word “America” has become synonymous with greed, arrogance, and ignorance."

Oh gee...Yup, that's why my parents were clamoring to get into the United States when Communists struck their country. *sarcasm*

"This has been revealed by the fact that in nearly three years of war"

If you had paid attention in school, you WOULD no we're not really in WAR. Congress has not officially declared war, yet. So, we're just there, not in war.

"More recently, Bush took an obscenely long amount of time to react to the horrors and destruction of Hurricane Katrina, taking ineffective evacuation and rescue measures that were, in many cases, too little too late"

Once again, it's not the government's fault. The government requires the invitation of the MAYOR and GOVERNOR to take immediate action in a state.

"Thousands of evacuees are crammed into buildings such as convention centers and sports arenas rather than provided with temporary housing"

Well, it's not like they're going to be able to give each person a big two-story house, you know. Little time means desparate actions.

"losing their inalienable rights and freedoms to a government that could care less"

It's not their inalienable right to have a job. Nor does it concern with their freedom.

Okay, I'm done pointing out stuff. It's not like it's really going to change your mind. There is one thing I did like, however. The schoolyard bully metaphor.

That was simply brilliant. As for me, I'm entitled to have my own opinion about this. So, good work, even if I disagreed with it.

abuseOh bless the lord I get to review first!! Whoo!

Let us begin!

First off, allow me to say that this doesn't surprise me in the least--your name is "Woodstock"...I think it's safe to say that you are NOT a conservative? LOL...alrighty, away we go!

"he fact remains that under George W. Bush, the government has become a catastrophic mess that no longer cares about the welfare of the world or even of its own people"

Oh please. You have nothing to back this up...cry elsewhere child.

"Throughout the world, the word “America” has become synonymous with greed, arrogance, and ignorance. "

Um...not really. Ask alot of the Kurds and Shiites in Iraq if they think that. Or Cubans, Mexicans, etc. I tend to see it as people seeing America synonymous with "freedom", "liberty," and "opportunity."

"Starving children in Africa and their dying parents, stricken with HIV, cry out for our help only to be answered with silence"

And where is the rest of the planet's criticism? When did Africa become the sole responsibility of the United States? And no amount of money will solve those problems...they need government changes, not money.

" Middle-Eastern people merely want America to butt out of their business. "

I think the Israelis would disagree...as would those free Iraqis...oh and the Libyans. Oh! And those Lebonese, yeah..they must hate it that the Syrians are gone!

And didn't you just advocate going into Africa and saving all of them?! Who's business should we get involved with then?

"President Bush’s complete disrespect for the wishes of the world’s peoples and international law, particularly the Geneva Convention"

Geneva doesn't apply to Al-Qaeda! How many more times does that point need to be made?!

"Rather than eliminating terrorism and anti-American sentiments, Bush has created them where they didn’t exist in the first place."

Are you telling me terrorism wasn't a worldwide problem? I sure hope not, because BOY would you be wrong.

I'll skip the next paragraph of metaphors...

"However, no matter how many times he claimed it was true, his conclusion that these supposed WMDs existed had no legitimate evidence to support it"

The Italians, British, French, Israelis, and Russians, as well as the Germans, would disagree with you--their intel services would, at least.

"This has been revealed by the fact that in nearly three years of war, no WMDs have been found. "

WMD wasn't the only reason we went there--you fools keep making that the only reason though.

"Moreover, why does Mr. Bush seem not to care, refusing to supply concerned citizens such as Cindy Sheehan with answers to their burning questions"

Oh please...Sheehan had her time with the President...why is she entitled to call on the president at all times? She has a political agenda and figured out the best way to do that. She's brought Israel, capitalism, American history, etc into her horseshit speeches, so please.

"Rather, he chooses to go on vacation (he has gone on more vacations than any other American president), and hide himself in his Crawford, TX ranch while the protestors swarm furiously outside the premises like angry wasps"

Nothing in the Constitution of the United States says the President must stay at the White House. It's not like he stops being the President when he goes down there. So who gives a ** if he goes on "vacation" or not.

"More recently, Bush took an obscenely long amount of time to react to the horrors and destruction of Hurricane Katrina, taking ineffective evacuation and rescue measures that were, in many cases, too little too late."

He isnt to blame, sweetie. The mayor, the governor--they're the first responders, not the friggin' federal government.

"As a result, countless Americans were left stranded along the Gulf Coast in waist-high waters with no food, shelter, or belongings. "

Um, try just New Orleans. The other cities understood what to do in an emergency.

"Thousands of evacuees are crammed into buildings such as convention centers and sports arenas rather than provided with temporary housing."

Are oyu kidding? What the hell housing could they have gotten in a week?! Are you firing on all cylinders?

"People all over the globe suffer the consequences of America’s actions, whether they be an unnecessary war or disrespect of other nations."

Oh lord, please. Who suffers?

"At home, countless numbers of other Americans are losing their jobs to people overseas who will work for less, losing their inalienable rights and freedoms to a government that could care less, and losing their health as environmental regulations on power plants are rolled back and the poisonous smog continues to belch out uncontrollably."

Are you kidding? We insource some 4 million more jobs a year than we outsource...what "inalienable" rights and freedoms have they lost? Hmm?

"And so I ask you, are you brave enough to stand up for your rights?"

Are you brave enough to open the Constitution? Hmm? Grow up, then come back

abuseYou're right, there -should- be a politics category for prose. I've wondered about that one too.

This is really well done. I especially like the way you fleshed out the Schoolyard Bully metaphor (spitballs!). The one suggestion I would make is to write more about outsourcing and the environment, maybe bring up the Kyoto Protocol or sweatshops or something, instead of mentioning them almost like afterthoughts in the conclusion. Final paragraphs are generally better for tying up ideas than introducing new ones. Other than that, it's great. :)
