I think you should rather continue this story. It's a pity leaving there, because you had the characters, and you had a plotline, why not make it a story? That's what you're here for anyway right? You could rather weave this message into the story; I often try to do that. If you do it well, everyone will get your point automatically (which I doubt people do with my stories XD) I'd love to see what happens afterwards, the open ending almost didn't fit, because it was simply too unexpected to be a nice twist. It's too good for this! *spanks* write now, write!
