This was a very interesting and informative essay. I liked the setup and history that came with it; to my shame, I am not too familiar with maccabees, and I really didn't know the story of Chanukkah. All the Greek history mixed in with it interested me, as I'm half Cypriot. I have a small circle of local acquaintences/freinds who are Messianic Jews, so it's nice to know what they're celebrating.

I have friends who think I'm the weirdest person because I'm Christian and celebrate Chanukkah, but it's so important, I think. Thanks for refreshing my memory on how it came to be.
