Reviews For: The Harp

ch 1,
abuseWow nicely done. I always liked stories about the death of dreams/innocence/youth and the realization that the world isn't what you thought it was,(as symbolized by the golden harp being fake) and written some about it myself. A couple things I really liked
the golden harp's music being what drove the boy. Music like dreams of the idealistic youth is intangible.
Harp's are related to heaven as well (apollo's harp) and that symbol works perfectly. The ethereal music of the heavenly harp giving hope and driving the boy forward. If you stretch that then you get the dark side of the story being there is no heaven, and the concourses of praising angels and perfection is all unreal. Anyways
I liked the fake dog too. I asked myself when I read "my hands on the soft fur" how is the dog's fur soft? Shouldn't it be matted and dirty? Then later when the dog all the sudden had strength to pull the boy closer to the harp when it was previously about to die, I thought it seemed ridiculous. By making the dog fake, it all clicked and was cool. The dog's existence could mean many things so I won't bother to go into that.
I also liked how you said "then I was no more" (emphasis on I) It's like he's telling the story later after the death of his idealistic, youthful self. If he actually died he couldn't tell you "I was no more" or if the harp is actually symbolic of heaven then he could be giving a parable about the death of his faith.
There's those themes I mentioned earlier again, The death of faith/youthful innocence (mamma, will we die?), and loneliness. I'm sure there's more but I haven't read enough of your stuff or read deeply. I just read over them once so I know I didn't get them all or even the majority.
