SSSSS 2006-02-03 . chapter 1I like the description in the first paragraph--interesting topic. You're probably the second, or third, person I've seen on this site that actually uses em-dashes. Also, I read your profile and noticed you asked what the difference is between a myth and a fable. A fable differs from a myth in the way that it isn't always something supernatural. In addition, a fable is meant to teach a lesson, or have a moral--kind of like Aesop's Fables. Thanks for your review on my story, too. Many people have commented about the Norwegian, just like you have. The thing about saying, "so-and-so said blah-blah in another language," kind of takes the atmosphere out of the story. The intention of the Norwegian, and any other language translations I use in other stories, is meant to give that feeling of reading subtitles. But this is only for the prologue--showing that neither Hanson, nor Janson, speak English. If you've ever read a Dan Brown novel, you'd understand what I'm saying a little better. Anyways, this was a good short story; hope to read more of your work soon.

Wylderaven 2006-01-19 . chapter 1It's so short, but oh so lovely! Good to see you posting again. *grin* I love, absolutely LOVE the dry humor that crackles along almost every sentence you write. And how completely you can make a character understood in so short a time. Is this a one shot or are you planning on adding more? I will survive if it's a one shot - because it's good - but I'd love to see where this character could go in a fully fleshed out story.
I'd keep raving, but I'm at work and the slacking must end! ;)
Take care and keep writing. |
