Though it doesn't come to mind at first, reading it twice I've found myself remembering a quote from Emerson. Goes like "People live quiet lives of desperation." Yeah... high school beats a lot of stuff in your head. Powerful imagery, something I wish I could do better (hehe). 'Please help me escape!' adds variation to the tone, making it stick out quite nicely for effect. I enjoy this very much.
