Raincharm 2008-06-21 . chapter 1
This would be an amazing song. I just love the "chorus", the part in italics where it asks if they had seen amazing things that the narrator must have, or must have wished for.

Hi love. Sorry I haven't gotten to alot of your recent pieces.. I've been horrifically busy, as you know from trying to call me and not succeeding in catching me at home. :| We'll have to agree on a time to talk, and I'll make sure I'm at home during that time. K? Send me an email, girly, and we'll figure something out!

Ok, on to this review...

-Have you ever seen love / Tortured by fate? / Have you ever seen tears / That came too late?- Hmm, I don't believe in fate. :) Just providence. Some people would say they're the same thing, but they aren't.

-Have you ever heard music / Bound in chains? / Have you ever seen beauty / Destroyed by pain?- I like that image; music bound in chains. It's like a beautiful woman who has to keep her face veiled. The beauty is squashed, made out to be something to be ashamed of. Quite sad.

-Have you ever seen hope / Dashed by the faithful? / Have you ever heard lies / Told by the faithful?- Hmm, what exactly is the definition of "faithful", here? Faithful to who? I guess I've generally thought of faithfulness as being a very positive, lovely thing. I guess because I'm thinking of those who are faithful to God. If they're dashing hope and telling lies, they're not faithful anymore-- at least in that aspect. Although on the other hand, we all make mistakes. And then we could talk about our definition of hope. Again; hope in what? Our talents? Love? Other people? ...Christ??

-Have you ever seen strength / Wither and fade? / Have you ever seen wounds / Healed by a blade?- Nope, certainly never seen wounds healed by a blade-- only made worse.

-Did you see the moon rise? / Did you see me fall? / Did you see the stars cry? / Did you see me at all?- This chorus is gloriously beautiful, and without a doubt my favourite part of this poem. It is simple and eloquent and fragile. The other verses seem to vacillate between sadness, sarcasm, and bitterness. Yeah- I definitely like the chorus best. Despite how sad it is.

...Oh wow. I can't describe exactly how I feel on this one. It's absolutely amazing. Beautiful. I really love this piece. It deserves some sort of award. Really. The rhyming pattern is excellent, and it just reads wonderfully. It makes perfect sense, and I love how it is so easy to relate to. I don't know exactly what your situation was when writing this, but this brought back a ton of memories for me. I can't say enough how awesome this was. (Y'know the word AWESOME is overused. It just doesn't seem so powerful anymore. *tear tear*) Wonderful piece. Great job. Outstanding. Keep it up! I'll deffinately be keeping my eye on your poetry. ^_^(And thanks for reviewing my poem. ^_^)~*Ginny*~

This is one of your best. I can't even say why, the words aren't there. But there should be music...

It makes me cry inside, because I understand the sorrow and the pain.

It makes me smile inside because, yes I did see you and you're amazing. You always will be.

Every time I read one of your pieces, I'm blown away. Then you have to go and prove that your last piece was just to prepare me for the transition to something better. "Have you ever seen wounds/Healed by the blade?" "Have you ever heard music/Bound in chains?" Such moving use of language. Such momentum. Such flow. Such power. Such...such...another wow. I hate to summarize things witht that word, especially this, but I could write three or four complementing this poem, but when that email came, it still might not do this justice. I don't know the context this refers to, but damn, it still strikes me, stabs me, makes so many memories and emotions whirlwind through me and if I heard this read aloud it might bring me to tears and send my muscles tightening into locks. It commands such majesty over the reader. It is phenomenal!
