abuseawesome. what a dramatic ending! I love how you set up betty's character at the beginning, so we start to get a picture that she's unhappy (as are the other women) but it's kind of in what she doesn't say as well as what she does. and then at the end it all comes out.

this was a fun read, thank you!

abuseFor some reason, this made me laugh. No idea why. I liked it, well written and retro.

abuseThis is good. It reminds me a lot of A Doll's House by Ibsen. It's funny how nothing much changed between the 1860's and the 1950's.

abuseWow, I can't believe I didn't find this sooner! This is great, the characters don't come across as preachy, but sincere. I love it, E.

abuseWow... it almost reminds me of a 50's era 'A Doll's House.' Don't know if that's what you intended, but I like it. I would like to see more of it, I know you intended it to be a one-act, but it's really intriguing!

abuseWow. Just wow. Didn't think she had the nerve to slap him...it's too bad this isn't a full out play, it'd be killer. ^^; Looking forward to more of your work.

abuseWell, that's a set up for the 60s if ever there was. Give Betty another score year and she'll be burning bras! She also came across as a bit of a closet gay... I don't know if you were intending for that or not, but it was definitely an interpretation one could make.

You seem to have got the monotony for 50s housewives down pat, also the superficial brightness. I liked the superficial chit-chat, though it ended up getting a bit longwinded. I'm afraid I can't critique it as a play, because I'm simply not well versed enough, but it came across pretty smoothly.

I'd love to see a sequel to this - Betty and Mary in twenty years time, at the height of the feminist movement. :)
