Powerful poem, very well expressed, especially the imagery is great, and I like the parallelism of each stanza, and the paradox between the other person's efforts at protecting the speaker from imagined danger and the real danger/ pain that comes from inside. This shows very effectively the mistakes that over-protective people, parents for instance, can inflict.
