no flaming. it really depends on the region you live, though. i agree with that whole "we're just from caucasia." me, being asian, have no idea how to tell a russian from a frenchman from an englishman. i live in a very white-and-asian community, actually. it mostly consists of jewish people. we have a huge asian club. we have a jewish club called "chai hands." but the handful of black kids there... they all stick together and hardly anyone approaches them.

nowadays, we group a lot of things by race... all the asians stick together, all the russians stick together, all the blacks stick together, and so on. the odd mixed child usually ends up in-between.

and colleges only ask for race because they want "diversity." it's pretty manipulative. i wouldn't say whites are totally "discriminated" against, it's just that there is such large white population.

I completley agree. We as whites, though obviously more succesful because of our lack of whining time, are completly looked down upon. I believe it was the white man that ended slavery, I believe it was the white man that created affirmative action, or at least ratified it, and i believe it was the white president who fought for equal rights. Also i agree that blacks always think that we are the slave owners holding the whip as you put it, but the truth is, whether they choose to agknowledge it or not, none of us are even completley white anymore. The White Anglo Saxon Protestant period has ended and there are no more WASPs or white people out to get anybody. The amusing thing is that they forget the travesties that some of the African Leaders have commited to the Dutch, which were white. And frankly, if anyone gets ignorant and won't listen then kindly look them in the eye and say: "All's fair in love and war." That'll make them shut up for sure.

No reason to flame at all! In fact, I agree wholeheartedly! I am sick of what a ghetto my neighborhood is turning into, and I thought I left LA behind. But alas, the Coachella Valley desert is becoming part of LA...the worst parts. Just the other day someone spraypainted STBx3 all over my house's walls. The neighborhood is largely hispanic. Ours was the only house directly touched. I don't blame hispanics, it's that subgroup that think they're cool, who go around acting "ghetto" and "gangsta" (which, by the way, are not cool, and I have no respect for anyone of any race who acts within those two categories), destroying white people's property (as well as non-white people who actually care about their neighborhood and keep it up). It's horrible. I am so sick of being tormented by people at my school for being white. Even the white kids play along with it!

You made some interesting points. From someone who comes from an equally mixed background (though I have dark skin, so my problem is the opposite...everyone automatically assumes I'm black), maybe the point is that background and skin colour really shouldn't be an issue at all. It's ridiculous to try to pigeon-hole anyone into a broad and, unfortunately, generally highly stereotypical category, when you make the very good point that even among groups that are considered the same "race" there are wide variations in language, culture, etc.

Why is this in the "essay" section? You have only one sentence for nearly every paragraph. You brought up some great points, though. You said "lol" in here...don't (unless, of course, to help with a character's voice).Still, good ideas. Display them differently. If you're going for the laid back/simple/casual style, that's cool, but develop it further.
