Very nice portrayal of death-- makes it seem almost "pleasant." I understand what you mean by things just popping into your mind. I guess that happens to most writers. And it's those pieces that usually turn out best.

Just one critical comment: Fourth stanza, last line's a bit long. Perhaps replace "finally" with "at last" ? Just a thought...but otherwise very excellent writing.
