Reviews For: The Summer Country
Narat 2009-03-01 . chapter 1
Hey solo! I didn't know you had stuff here until I went back to your FFnet profile!

OH this is nice; very poignant.

I admit, I'm not too familiar with the mabinogion but I do remember Summer Country from Lloyd Alexander's Prydain series with loose references to welsh myth - I believe it was reached after life?

But I loved the irony you used in the allusion of a dead innocence and the person here dying (I assume)is revisiting his/her childhood which is something I've always speculated might happen to me. "Visit the place that's long forgotten" upon death...just lovely.

And the tone just reminded me of Alexander's Taran, which was a character we can all relate to for precisely this reason. We have to grow up sometime and realize that our childish dreams aren't what they seem and even if they are reached, it will be with much toiling and suffering: two agents of knowledge.

Tragic indeed. Knowledge does steal our innocence, doesn't it? Well done.
