Of course they can. This is another example of you just using a word or phrase for the rhyme. Of course a child can know hate, have you watched the news recently? You used 'hate' and 'fate' way too much in this poem, also.

"No one understands what is fate."

This should be "No one understands what fate is." But even grammatical correction of that phrase doesn't improve your sketchy and irritatingly over-used meaning.
