You've got a very interesting beginning here. Gwen's madness is highly intriguing - the objects/animals are making such insightful comments, it makes me wonder how her mind conjures up these things or if there's something deeper afoot. I think my only criticism is that you might want to put some breakers where there are scene changes. Ficpress accepts hyphens as breackers, in case you've tried and failed with other things. And yes, I can see how this would definitely benefit from a reworking now that you're older and your writing style has presumably improved, but at it stands, the style is more than adequate to portray Gwen's feelings. I'll try to read more at a later date.

Nah, the ending is fine. I always thought this whole last chapter is heartbreakingly sad. I mean, I know it's supposed to be, and there's the feeling of hope at the end, but still -- sad.

I know I'm always going to wonder about some of the characters, and what happened to them... it'll probably haunt me forever.

One day you should write a sequel to this. Oh, well, maybe not (because I don't think you want to) but the characters just have so much potential for future stories.

Anyway, good stuff. I'm glad that you finally decided to upload this onto fictionpress, anyway.

Oh, Dan and Gwen, what starcrossed lovers.

But good chapter. I feel kind of sorry for Mel. Like, she's been there so long, and she just has to watched while all thes eother people pass through. It's kind of sad.

Oh, I think it's kind of sad that she realises she does miss 'home' after all. And it's strange, because while she's at the boarding house you kind of forget that the outside world exists at all, like with Gwen's extended family etc.

I've always been a Gwen/Dan shipper. ^^

The true story behind the room isn't quite as sad, but I think it's good that you find out why the room is actually black because (although it's fiarly obvious she isn't) it rules out Gwen being psychic or anything.

I guess Dee's fiance dieing on their weddind day would qualify her for helping people, and that's probably why she set the house up.

Anyway... ^^

I just like the modd of this chapter, with Michelle leaving and Gwen realising that the house isn't a permenant residence. It's sad.

And Mona Lisa talking at the end is good too... As I've said, I just love the bits where stuff talks to Gwen, and the Mona Lisa seems to make a particularly good talking-object. maybe because of the smile. ^^

I love how Dan doesn't really turn out to be solem, but totally mischievous. And Gwen chastising Dan for smoking was just... nice. It showed how comfortable the characters were with each other.

I love Gwen's reaction to the song... Very deep. ^^; But seriously, you know what I mean. And you wrote those lyrics, right?

Having Dee give them that game to play was actually a good way of giving the reader information about the character's pasts and stuff.

And now we're getting more of an idea about Gwen too (even if I have read this before, but whatever). I've always wanted to know why the rock is important to Dan...

Ah, we meet Dan. Dee taking the cigarette from him as she walked past was priceless, and he's just generally an awesome character.

And I love Ani being short for Animosity. Very clever.

I've always liked the black paint scene... It's just awesome, and totally tragic. Actually, I just think it's kind of cool whenever anything talks to her. I mean, it's sad, and I guess it makes her kind of crazy, but iy's still clever.

This is good. I really want to know what happens next. There are a few little things that are a bit weird, but on the whole it's very good.
