Brendan2k5 2006-04-29 . chapter 3I saw this on the History Channel last week but I'm glad you're covering it. I myself consider myself a Bible Scholar, though I have no Doctrines or Degrees.
It's kind of a habit to open up the diologue for non-religious discussino concerning the Bible. You, my firend have inspired me to post some of my findings, starting from the beginning. |
The Postscript 2006-04-27 . chapter 2Nice, please accept my thanks that you are doing this! After a particular situation, I've strayed from the church, or at least connecting to it the way I used to. That means, of course, less bible study time - and I'm not talking about the fluff bible classes, but the ones that get in depth and really analyze. I miss that. So, keep this up!
Second, I believe that there are stories in the bible not meant to be taken too literally, and while that doesn't mean I don't completely overlook them, I just take them more for the message than anything-parables or not. Jonah being in a 'great fish' does sound a little fishy...(excuse the pun) but I enjoyed reading the history of the cities. What really interests me is the word-plays, things like how "Tarshish" is around modern day Spain, or other words you'll find in Latin to translate. That stuff is cool. Well, keep this up! |
