one thought would be inserting breaks between the flashbacks at the beginning of this chapter - I think it would help the reader a lot to see where one memory began and another ended.

nice chapter - i really enjoyed Matt and Mike's conversation, and the way you've structured this chapter.

one thought i had was to take the part in the middle - the portion about sammy - and to rework it as a flashback on Matt's part, or a flashback on Sammy's part. That might make this chapter a bit more unified.

I'm also torn as to which one you should do for a couple reasons.

At first glance, Matt would seem obvious. After all, he did save her life and he's been her best friend for a long time, despite the fact that he slightly abandoned her and may be the reason why she married Scott in the first place. Despite this, he really cares for her and accepts Amber and treats Amber with the respect Amber never got from her real father. Yeah, Matt seems to be a good choice.

On the other hand, people can change, and Scott is no exception. I'm just worried about how he'll be able to be with Samantha with that business of "no bail" or if he's found guilty. I'm also wondering how he'll reform or how he'll kick that habit of drinking and hurting his wife. If you decide to do a reformed Scott, (which I'm sure you could, you're a great writer) then maybe he could go to counseling.

To answer your question, I favor Matt, but I know that a reformed Scott would also make a great story line too.

I absolutely loved the last chapter. It is so sweet that Amber comforted Sami. I think that was adorable.
Anyway, as far as the Matt or Scott thing, I am kind of torn. I think that either way you write the story will be sweet. However, if you go the Matt route, it would be bad if Scott was reformed and Sami chose Matt anyway. I really like Matt and it would be sweet to see them together, and probably more true to real life, or at least what most commonly happens given the circumstances.
However, on the rare occasion, abusers actually do find God, and He is the only thing that reforms them. So it would also be amazing to see Scott find the Lord and then work his way back into the lives of Sami and Amber. Of course, there would be a lot of struggles along the way... mainly Sami would have a hard time completely trusting Scott, and he would really have to prove his love for her. Also, he is still human, so he would have to deal with the tendency to immediately become jealous upon seeing her with another guy, or things like that. He can't change overnight, not to say that he would abuse her again, but more like he would still become angry at times, and he would really have to trust in the Lord to get him through it. Also, since Matt is so sweet, you will prolly want to find someone for him to end up with as well, since Sami seems to be the only girl that he ever loved enough to want to share his life with. In the end, Matt and whoever he ends up with, could probably become really good friends with Sami and Scott. Anyway, those are just thought running around in my own head.
I think you should chose whatever path you think would give the most glory to God, keeping in mind that this is real life here, and the reformed abuser thing is very rare, except with God. Maybe you could even focus on the process of Scott coming to know the Lord. Maybe someone he meets in jail could be the person to lead him to the Lord.
Anyway, I think you have an excellent story going here, and to stop writing it would be a shame. Don't let these characters' stories go untold. I am also very, very interested in finding out what the woman's secret is in Corriendo. lol.

I like Scott but I want Sami to be with Matt.

Hey...this was really good...I like the idea of Scott turning his life around...for himself, but I'd love to see Sami end up with Matt...later down the line though...at this point, I think she is too fragile (emotionally, spiritually, and physically) to be in a relationship...

It's a good story, but at times it felt rushed. What I mean is that it felt like you were trying to say what happened and not enough of how it happened. Maybe next time you could go into more detail and take your time. Let things unfold right, don't rush just because you want to get to the point.

Just my opinion.

I really like this story, and as a Christian, it's wonderful to see you use God in something like this. I pray anyone who reads this and doesn't belive, will somehow be able to! Awesome work. God bless!

This is a very intense and yet real life fic. I'm not very religious myself, but I can understand other people being religious, if that makes any sense, it's just not the path for me^^ I'm a believer, though, in the right to choose, prochoice, I don't support abortion, but I believe it's a lot safer than a poisoned rag or the end of a broken hanger. So I think that it's very wrong to force an abortion on a female, I would never be able to do it myself, but if it came to be a life and death situation, I might change my mind... It's a very hard thing to figure out whether or not abortion is right or wrong or just at times necessary. At least the bastard is in jail. I can't stand any kind of abuse. I tend to be very sensitive on that subject for certain reasons and believe that the abuser should be punished severely, for they don't deserve such an easy punishment like death. So, I hope that Matt and Samantha get together, but of course Drama shall ensue... Please update soon and keep up the good work^__^!
