Aw. =( It's really, really beautiful . . . But with a palpable undercurrent of sadness. Of course, the story of Orpheus has an undercurrent of sadness, so it's fitting. I like the invocation of the Muse-related mythology, and I don't know if you did this intentionally, but it captures very effectively how the women he turned down felt. (After his wife died, Orpheus, something of a Greek demigod hunk, refused the countless women who threw themselves at him). But, anyway, really, really good stuff, as usual. Seriously, Emeraldi, it's stuff like this that establishes you as one of our generation's most towering poetic voices. The way people today read T.S. Eliot and Alfred Lord Tennyson in text books today, some time from now scholars will pour over the genius works of Emily Slaten! ^_^
