Very interesting. There's a certain detachment in this poem that I found attractive (detachment, attractiveness--what the heck am I talking about?). You refer to "wooden legs" and "heart to stone." Things that would usually be human are NOT, while thinks that usually are NOT human ARE (wow... I'm bordering "not making sense"). Your "brooks babble on secret songs" thus exhibiting a human tendency towards speech (metaphorical, of course--I'm not exactly picturing a brook TALKING... I'm not crazy). Lots fo this poem reminds me of Eliot's "Hollow Men." It's sad. But you're a little happy at the end. I'm afraid I can't answer the summary's question of what I think this poem is about. It's just interesting. Let's allow that to suffice.
