heart'n'soul-of-ink 2007-07-19 ch 2,	abuseI really like your story so far, but this line looked familiar: "The birds are safe in their quiet world of cross-stitched leaves" Isn't that from Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine? I'm not accusing you, I'm just curious. I remember because that was my favorite book from the time I was ten and I always loved that line.

Everything was so clear and solemn; the tone fit the story wonderfully. great, great job. I love the original idea too; it was a very interesting concept. I genuinely liked this.

I'm sure all of us can atest to the fact that never once did you leave us dangling. Your updates were prompt and you were able to finish. There is nothing worse than a great story that dies too young. You must know that fact, too. Secondly, your characters. Although I would have liked to see Julie's character developed more, I found your characters realistic. You didn't make Luke seem like a crabby baby upset with life. You made his pain seem believable; best thing was he survived war and is making a vow to move on. Elvie is a clever girl beyond her years- in spite of her lack of education. She is, in fact, my favorite character. The setting is also well done. You've added just enought detail to spark the reader's imagination. I hope this review wasn't too long or too melo-dramatic. Winry Rockbell 2006-07-04 ch 10,	abuseOh, this chapter was so beautiful and poignant that I just think I might be able to forgive you and hold off on the tar and feathers! :) Although I realized what was happening when Walter was talking to Luke, I like that you did not make it predictable and typical. (Kind of like Laurie and Jo in Little Women, if anyone has read it!) I had tears in my eyes when Elvie told Luke he gave her a voice. It was so sweet. She sees Luke as a dear friend, maybe a brother, but she can't reciprocate the feelings he has for her. I'm just so glad this isn't the last chapter! Yay! Also, don't be sorry for taking your story in the direction you want it to go. This is your baby, and you can do what you want. Its not like it was sudden--Walter had a crush on Elvie and probably even knew her before Luke came home. I like your story the way it is! Great job! :)
Spicy Tears 2006-07-04 ch 10,	abuseI feel so bad for Luke. Its pretty lame of Walt to not tell Luke he was going to ask Elvie to marry him. Im not really that dissapointed to find out Elvie and Luke aren't going to be together. It makes the story much more realistic. I can't wait till the next chapter.

But then, after I cooled down a bit and let the story sink in, I realized you had a fair point not putting Luke and Elvie together. Luke is still a boy at heart and isn't ready for the intimacy of a marriage just yet. Walter will treat Elvie well, even Luke should admit that. I'm still saddened by the way things are turning out, but I still love this story! ABH PS: Sorry, if I sounded slightly critical. For your final chapter I'll write an extremely long review reviewing the entire work.
Winry Rockbell 2006-07-03 ch 9,	abuseThis is such a lovely story! I feel so sorry for Luke, but I love Elvie. Just a question--is Elvie her full name? Or is it short for something? Also, are we going to get the story of her background? I wonder how she became mute... I really liked the chapter from Elvie's POV, and I think you could add more chapters so we can understand more about Elvie. I also kind of don't get why Walter likes Elvie, I mean, aside from the fact she is pretty. He doesn't seem to have a connection to her like Luke does. I really enjoyed this, though, sorry it is ending so soon, but looking forward to reading the end!!
