Dawn's-End 2006-07-26 . chapter 1There's something very Ayn Rand-esque about this ("the virtue of selfishness" and whanot). It's a very individualistic and existentialist way of looking at things which is a refreshing reprieve from insincere propriety. I agree very much with the message of the poem.
Stylistically it's a bit flat. The individual lines don't really pack the emphasis. Maybe it's because of the subject, but it seems repititious in a way. I think that something like this needs an element of exaggeration. It needs to have more bite to it. For someone who's so self-assured, this poem seems loath or unwilling to offend anyone. |
