| x.beauty.x.from.x.pain.x 2006-09-16 ch 3, | abuseyou convey an extremely powerful message here, and you wrote it well. the repetition works. however, there are also a hundred thousand teenagers who commit suicide every year (forgive me if my statistic is wrong, but i'm almost certain that's what i read) who most likely had their own reasons, and did not need judgements or labels to add to their pain. what drives thousands of teenagers to kill, hurt or starve themselves every year may not necessarily be something you or other people view as valid, but to them it was more than they could handle emotionally, and they deserved help, not laughter. there are many teenagers out there who are posers, or cut/hurt, etc. themselves because they want attention. i dislike their actions, but there is still a cry for help if they're desperate enough to do something like this, maybe to set them apart as an individual. maybe not. but labeling them won't accomplish anything. there are people like this who deserve to be ridiculed, and for their sake, this poem is very well done. but i've read your emo parody, and honestly, i say let them be. you are a very good writer, and you leave excellent constructive criticism, and i admire you for it. but i disagree with a lot of your attitude towards angst and emo. that doesn't mean i dislike you -- i respect you as a writer and person. i simply have a different opinion of something you seem to view as melodramatic. i apologize sincerely if this review offended you in any way. i simply wanted to make my voice heard, as you are not shy about expressing your opinion (and i admire you for it). the poem itself is well done, but the subject matter? i just wanted to say what i felt. if you have any questions, comments, etc., please leave a review. i am not allowed to use e-mail, but if you have something you'd like to say in response, just leave a review, anonymous if you want. i apologize for the length of this, but again, i wanted to say what i thought, since this is such an important topic. keep writing. |
