This is certainly fascinating! I thought the first 5 or 6 paragraphs were a little hard to get into (or, rather, a little more convoluted with the narrative than needed) but the rest of the chapter was stellar. I'm certainly fully engaged.

I really like this story. I like the characters, the odd bits of humour and the spell on Spider is a really cool idea.

The way the curse is worked into the story is very well done and is interesting, to say the least. However, the reason why Astin would go onto the wall right after an attack is unclear and slightly contradictory since he instructed no one to leave. Why did this have to be a cliffhanger? Still, I eagerly look forward to the next chapter.

This is really intriguing. Love the idea of Spider's curse and the descriptions of the city and the criminal gangs within it are all clearly worked out. Looking forward to reading more of this one.
