I love "a grin that showed teeth and a blush of embarrassment on her cheeks" because the visual is great and you used slant rhyme! Nice work! I hope your friend is truly happy, wherever she is. Keep writing! :)

Sort of a love-hate relationship. I like the irony that you'll miss her.

At first, I was confused, but then I realized that it's happy and it's sad at the same time. Got it.

The second stanza is my favorite. Good job!

This is particularly striking and, also, particularly poignant.

You make the poem human - there are moments were the speaker seems so selfish and so sacrificing and (God, its beautiful) - and one can completely relate to it.
