Good. Where it could fall into vagueness, the first sentence has me thinking 'yeah, that's what sleep is'. This trend continues. The nightmare-spider is just vague enough, and you picked up on the fear in "unnatural hinged limbs". Bugs are like trains, as C.S. Lewis said, scary because all the works are on the outside...Good piece.

Is it weird that every single one of your pieces I read, the reading voice in my head is yours? I guess that makes sense.

I love the image of "sleep, a golden syrup that slips through your veins" and the "unnatural hinged legs" of the spindly nightmare insect. You didn't do the cliche "midnight black horses = nightmares" thing, which is really nice because it's so overdone. It's only cool when Piers Xanthony does it that way.
