Hm. I'm humming now. Very interesting story. I think the "as a place" is unnecessary after Somewhere, especially since you're capitalizing it. As usually, though, your descriptions are perfect - very vivid imagery. Good job, Arch.

I really liked this, the tone was perfect for the story... This is probably one of the most interesting things i've read on this place...i won't spoil it by trying to think about it in anymore depth.
