Dear friend without understanding of english grammar,

"Without any god you have no sense of right and wrong"-Excuse me, I am throughly offended. Does this mean that if one doesn't believe in god they go around doing things that are held bad by society today. Who makes up what is good and bad or is it just a morale held by humanity in general, because I am sure cannibalistic tribes in uncharted areas didn't know cannabalism and murder was wrong, or did they? Hmm. Anything could be right or wrong, but personally, I prefer not to go buy a 7 by 10 inch book. If I started worshiping say, Harry Potter, would that make me unjust and wrong?

And by saying all of those things are wrong and our society is based off of them, congradulations, you have figured out that our society is based off Christian beliefs. How have you figured this out? We were only started by the english under rule of the queen under rule of the church.

But apparently we can't always exactly follow seperation of church and state.

Perhaps the people that wrote the bible thought of it this way: how can a society stay alive if we keep killing each other, hurting each physically, and corrupting our businesses.

Maybe they just found those things to have a negative effect. I wouldn't want to be killed, raped, or stolen from, but I find those beliefs more of a personal preference. I don't like pain, most animals don't.

Again, I am trying to make this unbias and maybe she will never believe in god. Wisdom comes with age but if we stick to that, we would still be in the past. Innovations is part of the future, you can listen to your elders but don't forget, the youth with these ideas will be those elders eventually.

Thank you.

Hm, well, I am agnostic in the most general sense that I don't follow a religion because I do not believe there is a god but do not deny the possible chance that there could be one.

Anyhow, I believe that heaven is not capitalized due to the fact that it is one, not a proper noun and two, could have more meanings that the Christian meaning of "heaven."Perhaps not the second thing, but I am too distracted right now to consult a dictionary.

I agree with you on the basis that religion could have been invented to suffice humanitys growing need of answers. Why are we here, what gives us purpose, what is the meaning of life, etc. Perhaps they have some true things, maybe there is a god, maybe not. We may not ever be able to prove that when you die, you die (but I personally always found that depressing no matter what my view). Could it even be that the idea of no longer existing after death was enough to make the first thinkers and dreamers of our kind worship something in a desperate (and often unquenchable) need for happiness. Millions of possibilities.

You know, maybe Jesus was just passionate about what he believed in and that others found that a crime. I have personally never met the man, myth, and legend myself but I would have a few questions if I did.

Isn't it interesting how we have all developed so many different beliefs to cushion and fit into our everyday lives. There are people who follow their selected religion to the teeth and others who don't, instead using it as a crutch for excuses. How could this be bad if we are all supposed to find our path in life how we desire? Or maybe Calvinism was right, and we are all just ** from the beginning.

Now thinking about it, I kind of like the idea of Hinduism much more than Christianity. Seems more fair. Be good in life and the next one will be good to you instead of having to follow a book telling women not to speak in church and treating them with not the largest amount of respect. I'm not a feminist, per say, but I do think we should be treated equally with the degree of respect.

And what happens to those who never realize the ultimate power and die unfortunatly unknowing of god or other such forms? Pity or punishment? How is it fair we would have to know all and them none, or the other way around? Seems awfully twisted and jutting. Life's not fair, well, why not?

Is life really meaningless, can you give me more concrete detail to your commentary?

Depressing to the point of suicide, yes, I suppose so. Next time you get all introversive and wrapped up in the point of life, take a walk and drink something warm (or cold, depending on the season or where you live). Clear you head of nothing and everything. Maybe it won't work, but at least you can realize what would the point of killing yourself prove to a world of unsolved answers. That's cheating.

But through all of this remember one thing that I at least helps me:Don't be ignorant to others beliefs. Just because you find it wrong, it doesn't mean they do. They could live their whole lives thinking it is right and who are you to be the ultimate figure in decision. Hold your beliefs with fragile fingers. For example, I detest smoking, drinking, and doing drugs to a high point, but I don't codemn people who use these substances for their varying reasons. Who am I to judge? Just because I find it wrong, maybe it does something for them (or maybe not)

And always, remember to think before you speak and write, because not everyone will agree. A lot won't, hah, but that's okay, who are they to tell you what is right and wrong? Exactly.

Write me back on this, really. Or don't, I just want to hear your point of view.

I'm sorry you feel this way. I wish you would do some more research before coming to such a decision , because you really don't sound like you know what you're talking about. Not to be rude, but if you're going to argue, present the facts.

"the active atheist point of view. The point you neglect is that you can niether prove or disprove the existence of god no better then I can."

You present yourself as an "active atheist" while berating those who believe in a God. All because their theory is not entirely provable. Yet active atheism says that there is definitely no god (which is, again not provable).

This would present a problem otherwise. For someone degrading others based on their beliefs not being 100 percent provable, the logical choice would be agnosticism (look it up).

But since your particular atheism appears to be more of a failed, pathetic attempt to rebel against mommy, daddy, and society, I'll it for what it is.

WTF my eyes went right to this line:"Like murder is wrong, stealing is wrong, and rape is WRONG."

Maybe it should have because, although I am disgruntled with religious affliliations, and choose to say I have none, I am now thinking (from this essay, in short) that these religions floating around through time have had a mostly GOOD impact on us today.

Hey, I liked this! A lot of these thoughts have entered my mind as well, like "maybe Christianity's wrong" and "some religions could have been made up by the government" [did you know Mary Magdalene *wasn't* a prostitute? That fact was made up bu Pope Gregory 'The Great'!]

Something that might interest you: in the 90's, research on this chemical called DMT started - it supposedly plays a role in our religious beliefs. I don't know much about it, but there's books on the subject.

Yay for you!
