i have to say that the first is my favorite. the intense, vivid detail just gives such a clear picture. the others feel more like small observations, cynical and a little sad.

Oh, and thanks for your review on my new poem. Just for the record, a niente is the point of a decrescendo where it becomes so quiet the sound literally stops because the vocal chords stop vibrating. I'm such a singing nerd. *Blushes*

Something in your writing reminds me of Peter Oliva's book The City of Yes...I don't know, but "he was drunk on piano playing" just sounds like something you would write. And also, I based one of my poems on your style...don't know how it turned out though :S it just came like that. (haha! maybe I read too much.) And now I'll shut up, but that first chapter is one of the best things you've written.

I liked the first one better, but they're both really quite good. It's like taking a picture of the scenario, only with words instead of film. Short little pieces like this are fun to write. =) I'll be interested in reading more.
