I really like this. I'm usually not a big fan of loose-form poetry (as you may have noticed, I like my metre and rhyme). The subject matter is a great idea, the sentiment well expressed. It really struck a chord with me :)

One suggestion on layout. Have you thought about the way your poems look? I personally would've left an obvious gap between "You replied." and "Now am I..." to mark the two halves of the poem. Still, I'm a big fan of this.
