What's more, for some people, the friends you hardly see are better friends than you see all the time. (I'm not implying anything, it's just purely a hypothetical example). I'm not liking this fall... except so far it's been far better than the hindsight of last year's. (Due to certain people). I miss Gabe, though. Why am I going on about this? Good essay. Its amazing how you turn something that is in your eyes a "rant" and make it so intresting, compelling and beautifully touching piece as this. I was really drawn in by the opening paragraph, because I love autumn so much too- even though I sometimes pretend I don't. The seasons also helps set up the nostalgic theme, which is effective. The whole piece has such a soft, sad, but yet peaceful and enlightened tone to it...I just loved it. the magical touch of skyline drive...is this a real story? I like the detail about the band and teaching her the guitar, they were both such little details that it really gave it this authentic quality, although im sure it is anyway. oh yeah, and love sufjan, so that was just the cherry on the top. |
