Reviews For: The Journey

Wow, amazing. :) I especially like:

"Nature calls her,

Her spirit calms her,

The journey shapes her,"

Slightly cathartic, perhaps, your writing this? Especially the emphasized OWN. That sounded particularly wishful.

Anyway, I was confused about why you started by describing everything but her, and then two lines clarified it for me: "The journey shapes her," and "She listens to the sounds..."

Obviously, this is presenting the idea that experience shapes one's identity. Therefore by placing the environment at the beginning, you emphasize this notion. You put nature, not nurture, in the place of utmost importance.

On that note, I found it interesting that you used the word "nature" in that same line. This would seem to contradict the general message of external influences as opposed to inherent identity. This raises some serious questions.

Then, you underscore this ambiguity with the biblical allusion. Did Eve bear the fruit into her body of her own free will, or did Satan force her? What kind of autonomy does she really have? Is she truly independent of the Devil, and for that matter, of God?
