I love this so far. You do a great job in the Prologue of presenting the situation from a child's point of view. I'm looking forward to the rest of this.

The only criticism I can give is that there are a few spelling errors in chapter one, but don't we all suffer from it?

I rather like this story. Joel is interesting and likable, although his age confuses me. I get the whole not-nine-anymore thing, but how old IS he? I like the girl too.
