i like the tone you use in this. it's super relevant to my hum class (hehe, what finals do to your brain) - we're studying alienation.

and erik makes me think of 'the little mermaid.' and rei makes me think of 'final fantasy.' so obviously, i expect japanese underwater adventures. :P

keep updating. i can't wait to read more about this transformation - and of course, "love of her life" erik.

An interesting start to a story. Vaguely reminds me of a fantasy novel I read over the summer called Sabriel.I look forward to the next installment. :)

As ever, I was glad to find an update from you in my email inbox. This story seems to be off to a good start, just like all your others. There was a lot of background in this first chapter, but I actually prefer the type of prologue that explains a lot to the other ones I've read that just kind of hint mysteriously at the plot of the story. I'm excited to read more, and also to continue reading your other stories. Update soon!
