I love that last line, how you didn't write "someone has to be strong" but "someone has to LOOK strong" - like you're not really strong and just pretending to be. That the only reason you don't do it is because you're too cowardly to do it.

Although it's a bit unnerving to think that that's what's stopping the cutting ...
