Oh, the drama! A smell a story behind this poem- an interesting one at that. Why did he (or the narrator) leave? I'm actually quite the little fan of your repetition; it gives it rhythm and flow, and also emphasises the damnation more than you could have done by just putting it in bold in the first bit.
