Wow! This is fantastic so far! "I had learned that to enjoy the solitude of the book best, it should be red in the silence of eerie madness, so unlike the static of real life." -- I can relate to that so much, and it's so brilliantly said and described. This is really intriguing and I'd love to read more; for me, it calls really vivid fantastical images out into otherwise everyday scenes - the school library - and the way you handle that and bring it across is outstandingly well done.
