Cheshire 2008-04-14 . chapter 26 Hum, I have never seen it spelled as "hetaira" before. I have always known the word as "hetaera".
I am rather curious about what sort of production will result from Syai having volunteered to assist. We do not know that much about Paris, other than that the Superba thinks he is a better actor than he really is, so we will hopefully learn a bit more.
I like the somewhat philosophical discussions Syai joins in. I hope that this will be updated soon. |
Alasin Noire 2007-12-21 . chapter 2Oh my my my! That first paragraph had me giggling out loud. I have some clients like that... although if I said something to them about it, it would go straight over their heads. :D |
Darth Gilthoron 2007-06-08 . chapter 7... Catholics have more fun? Might I remind you that we Protestants have female priests as well as males, so... Right, I think I ought to shut up right here, or God strike me down with a lightning bolt for the thing I'm implying here.
The doorman? Reminds me of our holidays at Naples, when my sister watched her Gerardo from the balcony... Snicker, snicker. Sadly they had no pretty girl to stand at the other side of the garden gate, that would only have been fair.
Oh yes, the difference between treason and blasphemy... That drummer is not too bright.
Following FIGH! Excuse me while I snicker madly.
Nice legend... Especially the return to the sea.
"The god who has no vowels in his name" is good too.
I'm curious whether the "fish follower" will join her overnight or not... I wouldn't let that provocation stand like that, but then again, I'm more of a libertine...
>> My organ of mutual human exchange is intact and fully functional, all right? |
Darth Gilthoron 2007-06-08 . chapter 6Nice definition of "exiled academic".
That's an amusing "founding legend" you came up with. Though I sadly have no idea what you're referring to - care to tell me? Please? |
 Kohlomere 2007-06-05 . chapter 22V!
So I just: got back in town, brought my cousin home and started summer school yesterday (damn early graduation) and still am kind of keyed up--sitting for almost 10 hours straight leaves a lot of energy in the body. I was too tired last night to check on everything (but I noticed you've been publishing a bunch--goody!)
Okay, enough about me and more about HitC, right? Big long todo about Latin but very necessary (I'm sorry I can't spell or form coherent sentences at this hour) because I wouldn't know the first thing about it. That locomotive case does sound pretty tricky (how I adore the Chinese sentence structure...but I digress.)
Is Tetricus warming up to Syai?
Wonderful, V!

Darth Gilthoron 2007-05-23 . chapter 5The composer is spelled "Haydn".
And no castanets please. :p
Oh yes, flutes were unfashionable among the better-off. I think there's this story about Athena...
Now she wants the drummer to "play" something different? LOL!!
And now we'll learn how to raise only one eyebrow? I can't, but a friend of mine is rather good at it. :)
>>"I think you're both Cephalus stated. |
Darth Gilthoron 2007-05-23 . chapter 4First of a stack of reviews that is supposed to be heading your way.
I totally love your opening line!
Yes, there's a difference between ogling and appreciating... though a very slight one, sometimes. ;)
Those clerks are entertaining, anyway.
How wicked, pushing the captain in... though he totally had it coming... (from my own experience, I can tell you that sailors simply have to possess a certain swimming skill, I assume it was no different then)
Nice bit about how to pack correctly. |
 Kohlomere 2007-05-13 . chapter 21Hey V!
Maahvelous you updated! I take it the testing avalanche has been kind? Egyptian...you really are the best Classics writer on FP (not that the French department would be the same)! Tetricus...so when is he going to get A back or will he ever. This is perhaps my favorite in-progress stories at the moment, so hurry up! Good job, E. |
Kohlomere 2007-04-22 . chapter 20V, that was lovely. I fear I have little patience for poetry but it did manage to read it through--now I need to apply the same discipline to my English Lit.--and find it worthy of the highest praise. Brava Signorina, E. |
Kohlomere 2007-04-22 . chapter 19V, daahling, so good to see an update! I love this story dearly because it preserves your wonderous languid style of writing that in the latest Opus fragments have lost (and we know who I blame...).
"It was toward Ziril{,} Syai and Tarpius Tarpillius walked."
That was a wonderful little poem (you must forgive my ignorance of formal poetry) why can't there be more simple, clever poems like yours?
"'without {}wax'" |
Kohlomere 2007-04-07 . chapter 18Hi Dr. V! I am so tickled that you updated!
Oh my, that was a ton of history/intro-babble (sorry 'bout that, lack of sleep, right? But no excuse--I'm a horrible reviewer...)
Polyanish (I prefer Pollyanna-like, but that's just me)
So much ado about a stinkin' glass of wine!
Optimists- *shakes head*
Popularists- what fun! I don't know why, but the notion amuses me. All in favor of a new world order say "aye"!
Culti Novi- a truly utopian party, much like some sections of the democratic party of America.
Dandies- enough of them all!
Good job, keep it up!
PS-please pardon my ramblings! |
Darth Gilthoron 2007-04-02 . chapter 3Nice introduction on the art of drinking. :)
Huzzah, drinking games!!
Did the Persians really do that? Tee hee.
And I like that game... (snicker, snicker)
Philaemon sounds more Greek than Cephalus, though. :P
Whoops, typo: "sellar" instead of "cellar".
Ah, and there's the explanation for Philaemon's Greek name. Forget what just said.
And now they're planning a journey? This might get interesting... |
Darth Gilthoron 2007-03-29 . chapter 2Being a gentleman was a lovely thing back then. :)
I'd spell the fellow Simonides, but spell him as you wish. :)
And what kind of name is that? The Greek word "kephalos" means head... :D
They have a symposiarch? Nice. I always wanted to get that job. ;) Especially because of the party games, of course...
You know, I'd prefer it if you spelled the god as Dionysos. More authentic.
See see, Philaemon turns up...
Interesting lecture on philosophy... might I add that Socrates was not only old but also said to be very ugly? :) |
Darth Gilthoron 2007-03-29 . chapter 1I saw something about tricks in the bath and thought I'd take a look. :)
Good joke about Socrates. Meletos & Co should really have given this some thought...
Nice overview of the philosophical schools, especially the scoffing cynics. Brings back fond memories of my schooldays and jolly Greek lessons.
Hehe, garment pulling... And here comes Virtue. Always good for a dirty joke, virtue. (chuckle chuckle...)
Antiphon is such a bore, believing the clouds simply hold rain... LOL!
What's a hetaira? Tsk tsk, what a question. =)
I guess Antiphon has no sex life at all.
Peeking at nude athletes? Is it possible you had David in mind there? ;) |
Kohlomere 2007-03-26 . chapter 17Hey V! I'm being a bad student and neglecting my already late homework (not really, it's due in ten hours =) ) and reading your work instead. I much prefer your stories to Julius Caesar let me tell you! Well, I'm sure you were dying to know all that, but anyway, I know what you're talking about--the women from Sparta. At debate camp these two girls did like an interpretation of the whole thing (funny as...I'm not going to say). Keep it up, E. |
