I like this. The piece comes to a conclusion of simplicity, yet nothing about it seems simple. It is interesting how you use 'addictive': standing it alone twice gives it an importance that really adds something to the poem and allows the reader to glimpse this perfect conflict of interests.

This line sounds like the speaker was killed by the cat: "unlike the cat my curiosity/ did not kill me."
