I really enjoyed this first chapter! You have a very light and humorous style - very fun to read. And I like how you've presented the stepmother and stepsisters not as evil, but as simply being... unfortunate, in a way. Your Cinderella seems to be a much happier girl - now I'm especially curious to see your take on the ball itself!

“You know, duckie! A ball! With music and dancing and that sort of thing. My goodness! Have you lived in the basement all your life?” That part cracked me up! Great sense of humor. Bravate.
