It shows that they really loved each other. *sigh* It's so romantic... >.< Sorry, I'm sounding like a doof. Anyway, I like your use of actual history (like how they had children...all of whom Octavia took care of even though they were not hers. Poor Octavia...). I feel that the best thing about this story is how the description really paints a picture. The verbs and adjectives used are very descriptive. (I now sound redundant...) Very nice!
