abuseI love the atmosphere you create off right from the first sentence, and even in a short while I can feel the strength of relationships.
I really like how the character wishes he were a hero and you prove to show, he doesn't come out as much of one, it really intrigues me.

abuseYES, YES, YES! Thank you for putting my beloved Civil War into words so perfectly! I will bow down before you for as long as I live! One thing that I like so much about one-shots like this is how anonymous the characters are. They could be almost anyone from almost anywhere (wow, how much alliteration can I get into one sentence?), and that's a beautiful thing.

I don't know what else to say other than that I absolutely love it (good title, too). Going on my favorites list right now.

P.P.S. Have you ever read the letter read the letter written by Sullivan Ballou (a Rhode Island Major) to his wife a week before First Bull Run? If you haven't, Google it. It is AMAZING.
