Ellin Louise 2007-01-07 . chapter 1I need to read it again and again to think why I like it... the words work around each other, and dream like images build up at the back of my mind without me noticing, while i am reading this... |
no.peace.los.angeles 2007-01-06 . chapter 1Oh my goodness, this piece is nothing less than gorgeous. Simply astounding. From the first line of the piece, I knew this was going to be something more than just good. I mean, "Navigating Philadelphia's kidneys." That line. Your use of sound in this is just completely blowing me away, too. I have to favorite this. Gorgeous. Perfect. Keep writing! :) |
die kleine maus 2007-01-03 . chapter 1from the title to the last line, all i can really say is that i loved this. how you used words, and made them fit together, like pause-snap-flash-shuttered made it not only real, but jolted me. you know, into throwing myself right into the poem and the actions of the person. bah, i write crappy reviews, but at least i read good poems... |
Anaare 2007-01-02 . chapter 1A good and strong opening, very creative and well worded, as is the rest of the poem. Vivid imagery, as always. |
Saikai 2007-01-01 . chapter 1It's kind of random in a romantic way. Nicely done. - Bast |
Moondog Dozier 2007-01-01 . chapter 1Extraordinary sound throughout this. I like how the sound crescendos in places, and yet doesn't override the meaning and feel of the work. "every two inches a 'pop'-and a perfect swell would bloom.", is great sound phrasing, as the "L", and the "P", sounds work in unison to wrap around the readers progression of flow. I also like how you specify, and then draw back. "Navigating Philadelphia's kidneys", specific-relatable, to a broader scope, "Fog is dangerous in the city--", this contrast extends it outward in correspondence with how "The End Result of Love", for the individual in the work relates to the thoughts about the end result of love that the reader has already preconceived from personal experiences. There are many layers to this. Marvelous sound, a favorite for several reasons. MD:77. |
sirius chatham 2007-01-01 . chapter 1this poem is phenomenal. it moves, it has wonderful imagery, and it touches the reader (me, in this case) in ways that most poets only dream of doing. despite the fact that these are just words (as powerful as they are) i was able to be there with you, roaming the city, taking pictures, seeing more than there is. this is one of my favorites on this site, no doubt. really really great work! happy new year!
cheers,
sirius chatham
