| Mojojuju 2007-05-13 ch 1, | I personally think that whether abortion is right or wrong depends on the situation the mother or family is in. For example, if a woman gets pregnant and then a doctor says that her child has some kind of an infection and not only will the child die but the mother also if she does not get an abortion. Now clearly the mother will not only take the advice of only one doctor. She will go to see others because the first doctor might have made a mistake. But what if she goes to see five other doctors and they all say the same thing? In this case you cannot only look at the life of the child but also of the mother. If the child would die anyway, then should the mother also die? I don't think so. In that case I think that abortion should be allowed. But I think that in general abortion should be the choice of the woman. BUT abortion should only be allowed before the child's heart starts to developp. If the heart is already beating, then after that abortion should not be done. And when it comes to teen pregnancy... Well, in half (or more) cases the pregnancy was probably caused because the teenagers decided not to wait and BANG! They got themselves pregnant. I'm not saying that all teen pregnancies turned out that way, many most likely did get raped, but I think that most of them still was a cause of not waiting. In one way, they should then "suffer" the consequences of their actions, but then also raising a child is a big resposibility. A child is not like a family dog-pet that a person just has to walk, for example. Raising a child is a 24/7 job. No holidays, no vacations. So would a teenager be able to give the child as much "attention" and care? Would a teenager be able to take good care of the child? I'm not so sure. It all depends of how mature the person is and how much help she would get. I love discussions and debates. :] -- J. |
| Anonymous 2007-03-01 ch 1, | Best paper I've read on this sight so far. You should site your sources, though. I learned some stats, but I can't use them becuase they are not properly cited. I am pro-life. Life begins at the moment of conception and can only rightfully end with natural death. You believe that abortion is muder, yet you support abortion in two exceptions. You are either pro-life, or you are not. There is no gray area. Human life is human life. What justifies murder in two cases? How do you know that child of the rapist will not be the next brain surgeon? You don't. This child you support being killed, is entitled to the same life that you and I are. What if your mother had been in that situation and if she agreed with you? You would not be here defending human life hypocritcally. Think about it, those that support abortion (I refuse to use the term "pro-choice") are the biggest hypocrites on the face of the Earth. Now, when I debate this, I am personally told that I get too emotional, but how can you not help but get emotional about the greatest evil man kind has ever known? Mother Therea said, "The greatest threat to mankind is not nuclear war; it's abortion." I firmly believe this. Also, remember that "Pro-life" is not just about abortion; it is about defending life in all instances including from capital punishment, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, whatever ect. You should check out the American Leauge for Life site; if you've never been to it, it's a pretty awesome pro-life website. I am personally at work on an essay titled, "The Ethics of Human Life and Dignity," a deep philosophical analysis on the subject of human life. I also recomend Ann Coulter's book "Godless the Church of Liberalism," which includes an excellent chapter on aborion (she is against it, of course). You can expect my essay on this site in one or two years, unless I get lucky, but I want to make it my best work. Good luck, and continue to defend human life. |
| Kamikaya 2007-02-05 ch 2, | While I for the most part enjoyed your essay it could have been structured a little better (five paragraph model). Also I did not fully understand your reasoning on your expecptions. Your third paragraph is confusing and seemingly contradictory. Lastly you failed to mention the pyschological effects of abortion on Fathers, siblings, and extened family, or the way abortions are paid for ex. if you are pro-life for personal or religious reasons and you live in Canada you will be forced to pay for someone else's abortion as it is covered by the universal health care thus is paid for by taxes. |
