It's not at all soapy. It's really cute how Tom gets all jittery around Lee and I really like the chemistry around them.

I am however wondering what Tom looks like? More like his father or mother?

The Pace is fine too. More than fine because enough has happened that I just can't wait them get to the business (so to speak), but also it leaves this realistic feeling how things are going to build up naturally and that's what I really look forward to.

This is really sweet. I love it. One of those rare stories with 3D characters and beautiful storytelling. I'd love to see how their story continue, I love how there are no cliches. I mean, the nerd/prep story has been done a million times over, but somehow, you make your characters seem unique, the cultural angle helps there too.

I suppose I also feel a little bit of kinship there with Thomas too...go Eurasians with single Asian parents!

But anyway, I love this, is beautiful, and despite the fact that it's barely begun, I think I'll have to add it to favourites, the potential and the uniqueness here, I think, outweighs the fact that it's just a snippet.

I love the plot! This is such a cute story. The Chinese dad is awsome, sounds like my mom XD

PLEASE WRITE MORE OF THIS! I know it's been a while since you updated, but I'm begging you, please post another chapter!

Ah, I think it's brilliant as is! It is definitely not too much like a soap opera and it is not moving too slow or fast. Actually I wish it WOULD move fast, but thats me being impatient! Buahahaha! Hmm, I'm so intrigued by this story.

It does seem indeed that Thomas is developing a bit of a soft spot for Leroy despite himself...I love the careful, faux-bitter reluctance with which Thomas talks to Leroy - makes for delightfully built anticipation and relatable characters. Nice chapter!

Fascinating beginning. Thomas is quite an interesting character...I especially love the touch added by counting Leroy's curls. Hopefully we get a better bid for longevity on this story than on the other story (10B Pencil) I just tried read...:)

The summary for this really caught my eye, so I'll be sticking around for this story, especially after reading the first chapter. Good start, I really like Thomas and how he actually counts the curls in Leroy's hair when he's bored. I thought that was cute, it had me grinning. I really like it so far, keep it up!

Hey this is great so far! You have me hooked! I'm so glad you've written something new; I was just going through my favorite authors list and saw your name and wondered about your writing. Lo and behold, not ten minutes later I'm getting a new story alert! It was amazing.

And so was this story. :D I'm in love with all of your characters already, especially Lee. He's so cute. I felt so bad for him when Tom just shut him down like that... but at the same time I can understand Tom's not liking to talk to people and feeling sick about it... I don't personally understand it, of course, but I know what you're talking about with that. Oh! And I love the Chinese accents! That was great. xD

Your writing is also amazing, as per usual. From the first lines you had me with the description! It was awesome...

"Thomas frowned and glared at his piano, spreading his ungracefully long fingers over the keyboard without making a sound. His dad would start yelling at him any moment now. The piano grinned at him, its long teeth gleaming in a perfect scale, as if to say, 'Here it comes.'"
