theapathycrusade 2008-05-25 . chapter 1Bah! I don't know WHY it took me so long to review this.
One, the writing is SUPERB (and I am so freaking thrilled this is just the prologue), and I have a semi-fetish for love/hate relationships. Okay okay, first off, my obsessive love for mythology gives you props for Shiva and Anubis, and your INCREDIBLE detail -
"Shiva does nothing but stare blankly at Anubis’s exotic eyes, the near black color, the dark lashes, the kohl that outlines their almond shape and is drawn away from the corners to give them a narrower look."
This entire passage? BEAUTIFUL. And I especially love the use of kohl (I don't know if this was intentional or not) going with the whole Egyptian-name theme for Anubis. I just that's extremely cool. And he's ** sexy...and angry. And those two always go great together.
I think you really capture his emotion, and his desperation to get RID of Shiva when he's ranting about the different ways the other demon could kill himself.
And Shiva, of course, as the more passive one in this exchange...he's just heartbreakingly beautiful. I kind of want to rescue him from Anubis, but at the same time, the sadomasochism towards the end is awfully hot. XD
Phrases that are beautiful -
"They glitter like gems, but are the color of poison."
"his blood always looks like carnation petals strewn on cream-colored silk."
Amazing writing, really tangible, and the sexual tension between them is fantastic.
"Past that he sees pain, as he looks deeper into Anubis’s eyes than anyone else will probably ever get to see."
That line, right there? It saves Anubis. Otherwise, I would be thinking, "What a great, sexy **! Shiva's better off."
But those lines really make me anticipate the story, because there's more to their relationship than that.
And I rambled.
But it was amazing.
And on to the story! |
Orangeena 2007-02-06 . chapter 1Oh, new story! Shiva's and Anubis' relationship is very different than most I usually read about, to say the very least. Thanks for something different. But then again, from what I know you don't tend to write traditional stories anyway, yeah?
But WHY does Anubis want Shiva to die? Or, why is he saying so, when it seems like he's trying to bury the pain underneath his anger. I think Shiva must know this, evidenced by his reaction to the violence..
Cheers, update soon (and often)! |
