this story is rather sad and i can understand why Maria is so distrusting. i'm not sure if you mean for her to be really beautiful or just pretty, but i think that if she's beautiful you need to put more emphasis on that
i like Nicholas Demidov, he sounds like a promising character.

I love this story. I'm just slightly confused, has Nicholas Demidov never seen Maria? I'm just wondering because in Songbird and even when you first posted it here on FP it was Nicholas who molested her. Wasn't it? Ignore me if you explain this in later chapters.

Anyway amazing story. The plot is new and interesting, not old and cliché (too much).

I remember Songbird. I like your writing. Romantic elements with a nice healthy dose of cynicism. This rewrite looks good! I can't wait to read more.

Great addition. I wonder what will happen with Nicholas's obsession. It's sort of ironic that he was mad when someone else molested her when that's probably what he was planning to do to her. Nice work.
