Sounds like you need(ed) a dose of Solomon's writings from the Bible: he says that everything is pointless because it passes away, because there's always something(/one) bigger than we are, and what we ought to do about it.

Interesting poem. I like the concept of 'what eterminty looks like to time's eyes', because of the possible metaphors and the science direction you could take it if you wanted. The poem has some truths in it, and some good phrases (I especially like "The rival of horrendous reality").
