Wow, this is beautifully written. I like the way you compared music to art and clothing (I think? Unless I misunderstood that!) Anyway, overall, very beautiful. Excellent vocabulary. =D
By the way, in reference to your author's note, I think it's a good thing to write for yourself. If we focus too much on writing for others, the writing can lose some of its truth, some of its meaning, because then we focus on what others will think instead of just being as openly creative as possible. Or at least that's what it seems like to me. But, hey, you may not be like that.
