What a lovely piece of writing. You have really honored the two for whom you created this oneshot. It's lovely. The use of the italics gives that foggy feeling that happens during those types of situations. Everything seems to get a little fuzzy, even though there are still things going on. And your description of "that familiar stinging sensation" is great. You've created a brilliant word picture.
