abuseA very good story that makes you think after it is done. I truly enjoyed this sonnet.

abuseI am absolutely thrilled that there is SOMEONE who also writes sonnets for this site!

Since there isn't a separate section for them, I guess "general" is going to have to do.

Try variations on rhyme schemes - Petrarchan, Italian and the Wyatt variants - to jumpstart your creativity. It's already difficult to write a sonnet, so the fact that you have (and a pretty decent one at that) is already a battle half-won. The rhyme schemes, unfortunately, often twist the wording to sound artificial (but hey, it's POETRY, and IAMBIC PENTAMETER - it's ALREADY artificial!)

(and I also take out the middle syllable of 'every'.)

abuseBut for the stretched rhyme of 'shortened' and 'portend' (nice word by the way), I can say your rhyming never faulters.
The subject matter, while as old as the time you so effortlessly described, has been successfully brought to life. However, it seems a matte life; void of emotion. It conveys feelings felt by all eventually, but not in a new fashion. By the words and wording, I believe you can do better.

abuseSweet, gives the reader a true feel of a Shakesperian poem.
Really well done, needs no improvement. Keep writing!

abuseVery good. I like it a lot. How Shakesperian of you! Great form, good handle on meter. I really like the theme, about fleeting existence. It's very powerful.
